Zero 7

Me and Mike J. went to see Zero 7 in concert last night and it was the best thing, just what I needed to lift my spirits and inspire me again. The band, a jazzy, upbeat group with a lead singer Cia (sp?) so light with energy and laughter, dancing and skipping to the beat in a way that is so contagious. Then, she belts out toons and ballads that make you stop mid-dance step to listen, enjoy and drink it in.

There was also a funky keyboardist with a red cap who is the quintessential computer geek in the best sense, entertaining as he jigged to the beat in his own way his own style, so cute and lovably nerdy. He made me laugh light-heartedly as I enjoyed watching him simply be himself.

They gave us concert posters for free at the end of the show. I like it so much and it captures such a great memory that I think I will have it framed. :) Ahhhh...all smiles this morning.

Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Best Fried Chicken in Town

Our local paper SF Weekly had their annual vote for the "Best of" places for eating, drinking, entertainment and so forth. They voted Hard Knox Cafe as the Best Fried Chicken place in town. I looked up the address and it was clear across town requiring a 20-minute bus ride in an area of San Francisco I was unfamiliar with. It would take some time, but when I finally had a moment, I would set out on a quest to find this place. And today was the day.

I walked down to catch the 15 bus and it went bumbling down 2nd and 3rd, glimpsing The Gallery Lounge, and finally it reached 22nd. I hopped off and found Hard Knox Cafe and was quickly seated at the counter bar - 3 pieces of fried chicken, collard greens, red beans and rice, a Coke and a Jamaican beer called Red- something - all for about $11 - whooppee! The chicken was pretty good, hard to beat good ol' Church's Chicken recipe, but the best part of it was the adventure of finding it on public transportation on the other side of town. Fun! Yum!

Went to see "Prada" (enjoyed this movie!) and then hit the gym to burn off the fried residue of my little adventure. :)
